To help us celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge or Irish langauge year, Cairde Teo are organising a trip to the Donegal Gaeltacht areas of Gaoth Dobhair and Na Rosann for learners and Irish speakers from Armagh. The trip will take place between Friday 25 to Sunday 27 May and is being organised with part-funding from Bliain na Gaeilge. The cost of £60 will cover two nights bed and breakfast and Cairde Teo has drawn up an itinerary to reflect the heritage, traditions and richness of Gaeltacht life. On Friday evening, those attending the Gaeltacht residential will enjoy a traditional storytelling session with some of Donegal’s most reknowned seanchaithe or story-tellers. On Saturday, there will be a visit to Rann na Feirste where the Armagh visitors will enjoy a guided tour, a talk on the people, the townlands and the history of the area, as well as a short concert focusing on local songs. The group will then return to Na Doirí Beaga to visit the newly-opened theatre, Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair, before a bit of free time which will lead into the energetic modern Irish langauge music phenomenon, An Cabaret Craiceáilte, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. On Sunday morning, the group will enjoy a walk around An Bun Beag and Na Doirí Beaga before setting out for home, stopping off to enjoy the beauty in the grounds of Ionad Cois Locha or the Dunlewey Centre.
